Reincarnated as the most hated villain C1.4

Part 4: The Unparalleled Cheating Sorcerer

The horde of monsters attacking the carriage was surrounded by a crimson magic circle.

With caution, aware of the dense trees around me, I channeled my mana and engulfed every monster within the magic circle, reducing them to ashes.

It was an advanced fire-attribute spell called [Inferno Circle].

“What on earth...? The monsters suddenly caught fire...”

"Are pursuers coming?"

“If they are rebels, then we might be their target too...”

After ensuring the demise of the monsters within the magic circle, I emerged from the bushes.

I directed my attention to the surviving monsters that had luckily escaped the reach of my magic.

Realizing me as enemies, they showed their teeth and threatened me.

In response, I reciprocated their hostility with an equal intent to kill.

However, they quickly grasped the futility of their efforts and turned tail, fleeing from the scene.

Seems like those who are ready to be shot are the ones who shoot back.

“...Why are all of you just standing there like statues? If any of your comrades are injured, attend to them immediately. Hurry up!”

Approaching the knights, who were bewildered by the sudden appearance of a mysterious sorcerer, I glanced at the man who had been bitten on the arm and spoke.

I believed I spoke in a normal tone, but wait, does it come across as cold?

Could it be that I can only speak in this character’s manner?

Not only did I gain information from Robelia, but I also involuntarily acquired her sharp tongue...

“Ah... um... um, who are you?”

“It doesn’t matter right now. Instead of talking, use your hands. Come on, your comrade is dying! Help him quickly!”

“Ah... Y-Yes! Right away!”

The obedient knight responded, and I urged him to administer a specific potion to the injured man.

Initially cautious, the knight reluctantly accepted the potion given the circumstances.

If my memory served me correctly, the potion I handed over possessed extraordinary healing properties, surpassing even the advanced recovery potions that Robelia happened to be researching. It was a secret elixir capable of simultaneously healing wounds, curses, and abnormal conditions.

Pressing down on the torn arm of the suffering man, I made him drink the potion.

Anxiously waiting to see if it would truly work, I was astounded when the bitten area healed instantly.

His ragged breathing subsided, and the man, who had been in agony, peacefully fell into a slumber.

“Oooooh!”

The two young knights, who had silently observed from behind, exclaimed in astonishment.

Unfortunately, since the potion wasn’t my own creation, I couldn’t exactly boast about it.

Besides, I doubted I could pull off a bragging expression with this face.

“Thank you, esteemed sorcerer! Thanks to your assistance, we were able to escape from our predicament! How can we ever express our gratitude...”

A princess with chestnut semi-long hair emerged from the carriage.

She fixed her beautiful azure eyes, fearless and undaunted, upon me.

Delving into my memories, I wondered if this princess could be none other than Princess Ryan Azbeel of the royal family, whose kingdom had collapsed due to rebellion.

Why would a princess of a nation be traveling in a perilous forest with weakened protection in a carriage? I could roughly guess the reasons.

The internal situation of the kingdom had worsened, and the rebellion of the citizens had already taken place.

The king had been killed, and his daughter was now being pursued.

Attempting to flee the kingdom and taking a dangerous route away from prying eyes, she had inevitably been attacked by monsters.

Upon further reflection, even from a storytelling perspective, Princess Ryan would have survived even if I hadn’t happened to pass by.

But that comes with the sacrifice of the elite knight group guarding the carriage; they will be mercilessly slaughtered.

Among the passengers in the carriage, there was an elderly aide who stood behind Princess Ryan. Despite being saved, he cast a lingering look of distrust towards me.

It must be him.

In the original story, Princess Ryan would seek help from the protagonist, Rheinhardt, and his guild, the "Knights of Valor," in the city where their headquarters are located. However, I saved them without any loss of life, so does that have the potentially alter the course of events?

(TN: Correction in character naming from Reinhar, I revise it to Rheinhardt.)

I can’t help but feel a little apprehensive.

"Your gratitude is not necessary. I did this to pass the time because I was bored."

“But it’s a fact that you saved us! Please allow us to express our gratitude in some tangible form!”

“You mustn’t, Your Highness!”

The elderly aide, Julius, who stood behind Princess Ryan, interjected forcefully.

“Julius, what’s the matter?”

“Please, right now, stay away from that person, no matter what’s going on!”

“But it would be impolite to our benefactor who saved us...”

“Just trust me!

Accursed, arrogant sorcerer! What is your true objective!?”

It appeared that the aide, Julius, had some prior knowledge about me.

The surrounding knights also experienced an abrupt shift in their demeanor upon hearing my name, and they pointed their swords in my direction.

The younger knight still seemed to have a face that didn’t fully grasp the situation, but he would undoubtedly wield his sword without hesitation to protect the princess.

“Now, Your Highness, come this way!”

Gripping Princess Ryan’s arm, Julius forcefully guided her back onto the carriage. She cast me a deeply apologetic gaze.
